By now, it's safe to say you all have heard about the latest news at Penn State. Whether or not you agree or disagree with the firing of Joe Paterno, is your decision. However, I think we can all agree that we should always strive to the do the right things.

It is hard to believe we are already in November. Days are getting shorter and the weather is getting colder (at least here in the Midwest). Soon it will be that time of year again to gather with family and friends and celebrate a time of thanks and giving.

Character was defined to me as "ALWAYS doing what is right, even when no one else is looking!" I constantly heard my dad give this definition of character as he would speak to his team, his classes, or any other speaking engagement that he may have had.

The more I am around young people, the more I realize how important it is to be a model of good character. I was fortunate enough to have played football for Coach Thomas, as well as been a student of his at Aplington-Parkersburg.

We had a great event at A-P yesterday! I thank Carly Russell for putting the event together where we had three great speakers talk to the high school and middle school students about the importance of Character!
