Give Thanks

It is hard to believe we are already in November.  Days are getting shorter and the weather is getting colder (at least here in the Midwest).  Soon it will be that time of year again to gather with family and friends and celebrate a time of thanks and giving.  For some, it might be the first time you have to go through the holiday season without someone you loved and is no longer here.

When things go wrong, it is hard to trust and believe that things will get better.  Sometimes things have to get worse before it gets better.  Even though we may want to turn against God when things are hard, we can’t.  God is there and always will be.

This time of year we recognize all the things we are thankful for (family, friends, a house to live in). God gives us nothing he thinks we can’t handle.  Be thankful for this.  Isn’t it awesome to know that God trusts us this much and that he has so much faith in us?  Even on our weakest days God is there cheering us on with his arms wrapped tight around us.

Let’s face it.  Sometimes life just sucks.  I don’t know about any of you, but lately I have felt like throwing in the towel.  Thankfully I have people in my life that remind me to take deep breaths.  For me, college graduation is a month away.  Senioritis has definitely kicked in and I find myself leaving my homework for right before it’s due.  Even though I am super excited to graduate, I am a little nervous about what is in store for me when I am done.

We often find ourselves in similar positions.  No, not everyone is getting ready to graduate college, but we all can relate to being a little scared of what is going to happen next for us.  No matter what happens, remember you do have people who love and care about you.  Be thankful for this.

“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
