Live and Lead

Ed Thomas Coaching

By now, it’s safe to say you all have heard about the latest news at Penn State.  Whether or not you agree or disagree with the firing of Joe Paterno, is your decision.  However, I think we can all agree that we should always strive to the do the right things.

The Ed Thomas Family Foundation has a purpose to continue the legacy left by Coach Ed Thomas.  With all the drama going on in sports and the world today and now, I think it is even more important to look at the example Coach Thomas left for us.  Live a life leading by example and do the right things.  Good things happen to good people.

Exactly ten years ago, Coach Ed Thomas led the A-P Falcon football team to a state championship title.  Those same young men are now ten years older and have had the opportunity to live out the lessons they were taught.  Coach Thomas’ legacy and what he taught still lives on in them. He would be proud knowing that some have gone on to become great fathers, some to become great husbands, and some, to become great leaders in their communities and church.  His influence does not only live out in these men he coached ten years ago, but in everyone that he inspired in one way or another.

Coach Thomas was about so much more than just winning football games.  He was a person who was able to influence so many people and put faith in others that didn’t have anyone else to believe in them.  He didn’t just talk about doing the right things and didn’t just preach to others about being good people, he lived what he taught to others which is the best part of this story.

If you do good things, and do things the right way, you don’t have to worry about anything.  It is important to keep Coach Thomas’ legacy and memory alive because it is such a great story.  Here is a person that was able to do so much good without putting people down.  He lived out God’s Word without rubbing it in anyone’s face.

Today, what is going on in the world makes it hard for us to do the right things.  As you wake up each day, remember Coach Thomas’ story and remember that you have the power to do good and influence others in the right way.
